Principal's Message
Principal: Anjanette Winckler
Dear parents and guardians,
It is my pleasure and honor to introduce myself as your Principal at Miguelito Elementary School. I am extremely proud and excited to join the school community and support students and families during their educational journey.
Throughout my 28 year career, I have been privileged to work in a variety of educational positions, which includes being a teacher, site leader, and district administrator. My career in education began right out of college as a Special Education teacher at Camarillo State Developmental Hospital. I then worked as a Special Education teacher for Santa Barbara City Schools, and Santa Barbara County Office of Education. When I first became an administrator I worked as a Principal and then a Coordinator for Santa Barbara County SELPA Summer School Programs. My first full-time leadership position was at Los Olivos Elementary School. From there, I was an elementary and junior high Principal in the bay area, and then a site administrator in the Santa Maria Bonita School District and King City Union School District. While living and working in San Jose I had the opportunity to further my education, completing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership at San Francisco State University.
In addition to being an educator, I am also a mother and a wife. My husband works for Santa Barbara County Wellness, and I have three children. I grew up in the Santa Ynez Valley and attended Jonata Elementary School in Buellton and Santa Ynez High School. My hobby is swimming and as a child, I swam competitively for the Lompoc Marlins.
As an educator, I believe learning is a lifelong process, and I am committed to making sure that teachers and staff at Miguelito are supported as they teach students. Most importantly, I think that students are at the center of all school-related decisions and understand it is our obligation to ensure they receive a positive educational experience.
I also know that the Miguelito teachers and staff believe that students do best when there are strong relationships between school and family. As the Principal, I support this commitment and will work to find ways to further strengthen and encourage parent involvement.
Finally, I want the Miguelito community to know that I am excited to be part of the Miguelito Elementary School.
Sincerely,
Anjanette Winckler
